About Psychiatric Solutions
The art and science of healing and rewiring the brainIn the fall of 2021, we tried ketamine assisted therapy for patients who have treatment resistant depression. After watching patients experience the kind of relief we saw with ketamine assisted therapy, there was no turning back. With patients’ depressive symptoms going down, and even into remission, we knew we needed to embrace this as the future of the treatment that we wanted to offer. We want a treatment that not only offers results, but is also sustainable. Our philosophy is to treat the whole person providing support to all areas of mind, body, and spirit. It is our mission to assist you in with your goals and to provide you with a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive space for you while you are with us.

I am so excited and passionate about being able to do this amazing work with patients. I feel equally blessed to have such great and talented partners to work with. We have truly created synergy with our space and vision.
I have discovered that the addition of Ketamine assisted therapy, meditation, movement classes and support groups is an amazing addition to my traditional psychiatry and therapy practice. As a native of Colorado it felt natural to begin my higher education at the University of Colorado Boulder. I went on to attend the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston Texas and finished my training there 30 years ago.
I have seen and experienced so much in the past 30 years of psychiatric medicine. When I was training, Prozac had just been approved for the treatment of depression, and AIDS was killing so many, I felt the call to try and improve patient’s mental health and outlook on life.
I used all modalities I could, I obtained a Master’s degree from Regis University in counseling to improve my skills and understanding of psychotherapy and stayed abreast of the advancing science in psychiatry through ongoing psychopharmacology courses and medical education. I have always believed in treating the whole person, using a combination of medication, therapy, and lifestyle changes to obtain wellness.
The goal of any mental health treatment is remission of symptoms, symptoms need to be relieved so that functioning normally is restored. Not just being alive but truly living, including the full range of emotion and experiences.
I found myself prescribing a first medication, then a second, a third, and in some cases a fourth or fifth to just keep my patients in remission of symptoms (the average number of medications a bipolar patient takes is an astonishing 5.2). While I was dedicated to keeping my patients well, this began to feel discouraging to my patients and to me. So much trial and error, trying to encourage patients, more prescriptions, less time. There had to be something better.
Fortunately, many in the field were having the same experience and through tireless work and research there have been many breakthrough treatments in psychiatry, and more effective ways of gaining remission. For the first time treatments that help neurons grow and heal. When combined with therapy patterns of thinking and behavior can literally be rewired. Old mal-adaptive programs can be re-written and real change created.
I am so proud to be able to open up my own treatment center to offer these new and novel treatment approaches. I am excited for the future of Mental Health treatment and embracing better more meaningful approaches.
I look forward to sharing in this endeavor with all who walk through our doors!
